TO BE AN EFFICIENT READER, YOU SHOULD READ WITH A PURPOSE. This means that you should determine WHY you’re reading the text, and what you’ll be asked to do with the information in that text.

This is such a practical reminder—thank you! I think a lot of us fall into the trap of reading passively without really thinking about what we need to take away. The example about previewing questions before reading is especially helpful; it's such a simple shift but it makes a huge difference. I'll definitely be sharing this with my students!
