Summer 2018
Skill-Building Opportunities

Are you afraid that your child's academic progress will stall or backslide because of mental inertia during the summer months?

Wondering how your child will develop the stronger reading comprehension and writing skills required by the next grade in school?

Worried that your student will have a difficult transition into a new school year because of greater expectations skill and independence?

If so, I'm here to help!

Over the summer months, I am available to work with your child on a variety of academic and metacognitive skills.

Beginning around 4th grade, students are no longer "learning to read" in school; instead, they are expected to be "reading to learn." Critical thinking, organization, and self-advocacy skills become more and more important as students enter middle school and continue through high school.

Skill-building sessions can include working on summer reading assignments, review of material taught last year, and previewing content that is likely to be taught at the start of the next school year. For those students struggling with spelling and basic reading skills, I can also provide remediation, communication with next year's school team, and a plan for parents to continue supporting their child's progress throughout the summer and into the school year.
